Excentium, Inc. is a veteran owned small business that provides Information Security Engineering, Information Assurance (IA), management, and Certification and Accreditation (C&A) services to government and commercial organizations.


We have an opportunity for a junior to mid-level Information Assurance (IA) Engineer II to support one of our customers in Maryland.  The chosen candidate will be a member of a team responsible for providing support in the area of Information Security and IA. This position will perform IA procedures necessary to ensure compliance with governing security requirements, will perform user administration and analyze the results of vulnerability assessments, and will provide the customer with a determination of the risk and identification of issues and recommendations.

This chosen candidate will be required to perform all of the following duties:

·         Provide oversight for the System Integrator (SI) access request process, including delegation of the Customer Access Administrator (CAA) duties for both normal and emergency access

·         Assist in troubleshooting system user access problems

·         Grant approved access to systems supporting various environments that are not automated through the Control SA agent

·         Create accounts and grant access to the proper directories / files all the server level for AIX, Windows, and Linux

·         Create accounts or grant access through the Oracle application or Oracle Database

·         Manage and administer all non-user accounts within the environment

·         Review and approve all request for access as the SI 1st Line Approver to ensure that users are not granted access outside the scope of their job responsibilities

·         Review SI user status to identify users that no longer require access to a particular system

·         Provide Liaison support to the customer, SI and Medicare Contractors to facilitate user access to non-customer controlled systems

·         Enter delete requests and ensure access is terminated in the Oracle application and Oracle database where the removal of access is automated

·         Review access to existing employees bi-weekly to ensure that employees have the correct access and do not have Segregation of Duty issues and provide sign off logs to ensure this process is being completed

·         Monitor logs for access violations

·         Analyze the SI’s vulnerability scans as well as the output from the customer’s enterprise scans and recommending solutions for vulnerabilities.

Professional Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience with Federal Security and IA requirements
  • Experience with user account management processes and implementations
  • Ability to draft coherent, grammatically correct documents
  • Prior work in the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) is a plus
  • Experience implementing the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
  • Experienced in the analysis of vulnerability assessments
  • Knowledgeable of IA controls outlined in NIST SP 800-53
  • Excellent command of English language

Technical Skills Required:

·         Ability to address FISMA matters very knowledgeably and have experience utilizing security scanning/evaluation tools is a plus

·         Close familiarity with routine office administration software packages, such as Outlook, Excel, and MSWord is required

·         Experience with Oracle administration is a plus

Education/Certification Required:

·         CISSP, GSLC or CISM is preferred, but not required

·         BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Security Engineering, Information Assurance or equivalent education or experience

·         Three (3) years experience providing information technology expertise to large scale applications and complex computer systems and a practical knowledge of automation systems
