We have an opportunity for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer supporting one of our Federal customers in the Charleston SC. area.

Position Summary:
The Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer will support multiple initiatives involving Department of Defense (DoD) - Defense Health Agency cybersecurity solutions, strategy, and implementations. Individual shall develop high quality assessments that provide an understanding and resolution to security related events and problem sets. Develop and document system and architectural vulnerabilities including solutions and countermeasures, and integrate same with emerging strategy and policy.
Ability to analyze and define highly specialized requirements for enterprise, networks and IT systems, which may include LANs, WANs mainframes, workstations, personal computers and wireless devices. Ability to design, plan, implement and use a variety of security and connectivity techniques, technologies, and tools to design, develop, and implement solutions into IT systems and networks. In this position you will be responsible for integration, implementation and maintenance of IT system solutions for the Defense Health Agency. Gathers and organizes technical information about an organization's mission goals and needs, existing market products, and ongoing programs in IT connectivity, hardware and software solutions, and security. Fully participates in all phases of the systems lifecycle including requirements gathering, preliminary and final design, systems development, testing and integration of an organization’s IT infrastructure and assets. May direct or perform vulnerability and risk analysis, and participates in a variety of studies during all phases of the system development life cycle and implementation. Requires ability to manage schedules, milestones and technical deliverables and requires the management of a staff of technical personnel. The candidate participates as part of a security engineering team with the following responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) policy and requirements
  • Research, evaluate and assess impact of current and emerging computing, network and information systems solutions and industry standards.
  • Lead and support technical design and engineering of emerging technology through pilot recommendations and other research and development initiatives.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in Engineering, Systems Analysis, Medical Systems, Cybersecurity, Web Development, or Engineering Management, to include: Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specification, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.
  • Must have managerial or supervisory experience in the information technology arena. Note: Experience may be concurrent. Advanced degrees in appropriate area substitute for experience as follows: Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) – five (5) years of experience; MS or ME in appropriate area – two (2) years of experience
  • Understanding of content filtering, application firewalls, malware detection, and networking capabilities and the ability to articulate TCP/IP protocols operations to include but not limited to domain name system (DNS), timing protocols, and secure communication protocols (e.g. SSH, SSL)

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Physics, Network Security, or Computer Science.
  • Must be Capable of independent management of projects.
  • High level understanding of operating system security settings, configuration, and policies (Windows, Red Hat and/or other Linux) virtual environments, and/or scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
  • Able to work in team environments and independently
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to write procedures and other informative correspondence
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret security regulations
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve network/operating system security issues
  • Minimum of DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (e.g. Security +) is required with the ability to obtain IAT\IAM III certification (e.g. CISSP) within 6 months
